Big East Predict and Win Game of the Week: Rutgers at Connecticut
After an inspired game in Morgantown, Connecticut returns home to take on the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers. In what is sure to be an emotional homecoming, the Huskies (4-3) look to stop a 5-2 Rutgers in search of their first “big” win of the season.
Rutgers running back Joe Martinek will test the U Conn defense as they’ve struggled lately against the run. The Huskies will send it right back with the combined rushing proficiency of Jordan Todman and Andre Dixon who’ve combined for 1250 yards and seven touchdowns each so far this season. Like the Huskies, the Knights have had their own troubles against the rush giving up a total of 420 yards on the ground against Pittsburgh and Army combined.
If they do go to the pass, both quarterbacks will have their work cut out for them as both teams know how to bring the pressure. Connecticut defensive end Lindsey Witten has been a monster all season leading the league with a total of 10 sacks. He is currently tied for the number two spot for total sacks nationwide.
Don’t think for a minute that Husky quarterback Cody Endres will get a break either as Rutgers has only allowed five touchdown passes in the last six games.
Look for another emotion filled game for Connecticut against a Rutgers team looking to justify their winning record.
