Predict the Score and Win: Tulsa at Southern Miss, Louisville at USF
Tulsa at Southern Miss
The Southern Miss Golden Eagles welcome the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes in a game that holds big post season implications for both teams. If Southern Miss can win their last two games, they will hold at least a share of the Eastern Division Conference USA title. Tulsa needs to win out in order to be bowl eligible.
Tulsa opened the season 4-1 but has struggled as of late and is looking to break a five game losing streak which includes a tough last-second loss to Houston. In order to do so, they’ll need to slow the high scoring offense of Southern Miss who has averaged 415 yards and 33 points per game.
Expect Tulsa quarterback G.J. Kline to be looking again to Damaris Johnson who has wracked up a total 848 yards receiving so far this season. Kline has put up some big numbers also throwing for a total 2,068 yards this year.
They’ll be trying to stop the Eagles’ Damion Fletcher who’s run 789 yards on the ground and an offense that’s scored a total 381 points.
Both teams have done well in high scoring games so expect a shootout. Tulsa boasts a 56-29-0 record since 2001 when scoring 20 points or more while Southern Miss’ record stands at 59-18-0.
Louisville at USF
Louisville will be looking for their second conference win this weekend as they head to University of South Florida. The Bulls, who pulled off a big upset against West Virginia two weeks ago, will be looking to bounce back from a tough loss last week at Rutgers.
Say one thing about Louisville, they play with heart. And they’re going to need it as they tee up against a USF defense knows how to bring the pressure. Cardinal quarterback Adam Froman will need to maintain composure, prevent the turnovers and get some much needed help from his offensive line in order to keep up with the Bulls.
On offense, USF freshman quarterback B.J. Daniels will be looking to regain the magic he had against West Virginia when he threw for 235 yards and ran for another 104. In order to win, the Bulls will need to avoid the turnovers and mistakes that plagued them last weekend against Rutgers.
At 6-3, USF is still chasing bowl eligibility. A win over Louisville and two more games against No. 20 University of Miami followed by U Conn will determine if and where they play post season.
